What is a #TacoQuickie?

Guero’s Taco Bar is happy to present to you our new #TacoQuickie. Everyday that starts with a “T” for Taco (Tuesdays & Thursdays), you get a FREE TACO from 5:30-6:30 pm. One hour only? Yep! That’s why we call it the #TacoQuickie!  No purchase necessary, just a rockin’ taco on us!*

So why is there a pound sign (#) in front of the name?

The (#) means #TacoQuickie is a ‘hashtag.’ When you send a tweet on Twitter, you type in a hashtag to see what all the other people are tweeting along with that hashtag. For example when you say “I’m going into Guero’s for my #TacoQuickie,” it is displayed with all the other tweets about our hashtag whenever you click on that hashtagged word.

How do you get your FREE TACO?

All you have to do is prove to us that you have tweeted our hashtag, #TacoQuickie, in whatever creative or simple fashion you like. You can come in to Guero’s to show us on your smartphone that you’ve tweeted it, or send your tweet to your cell phone in a text, or even print it out or take a picture of it! Whatever you’ve got to do, just make sure you are QUICK, we wouldn’t want you to miss your #TacoQuickie.

Have any questions? Tweet us your issues on Twitter! @guerostacobar

That’s it?

Yes, that’s it. So, come in and enjoy an afternoon margarita or a delicious queso with your #TacoQuickie. Thank you to all of our Twitter Followers, we hope you are as QUICK to catch on as we think you’ll be! Spread the word!

Presented by the creators of the #TacoQuickie, Guero’s Taco Bar. Keeping Austin, Austin.

*#TacoQuickie tacos are limited to 3 ingredients and does exclude our shrimp tacos.

Just in case you didn’t catch it, we were featured on E-news last night as Sandra Bullock’s favorite mexican food restaurant in Austin, Texas! Here’s the clip:

We are so excited about this!

We can give thanks to Austin Star Maps for spotting celebrity fav-spots in Austin. Heather Brady has an interesting blog going, so if you want to read about her Austin celebrity knowledge, you can follow her here: Austin Star Maps

We love you Sandra! Can’t wait to see you next!

We love nothing more than being recognized as a loved Austin bar and restaurant (okay, maybe mexican food). Read what others are saying about Guero’s Taco Bar.

Thanks again Austin, we will continue to bring in “really cool” bands and keep the salsa coming! Guero’s loves Austin, Texas.

We couldn’t be more thrilled to host Johnny Gimble, his son, guitarist Dick, and his granddaughter, singer and pianist Emily, every fourth Thursday here at Guero’s!  Johnny is known as one of country music’s all-time greatest fiddle players!  An article written for “All Things Stings” featured Gimble and his background and of course, Guero’s Taco Bar!

We were so thankful to be featured recently in these fantastic articles!  It is so great to see our customers letting everyone know about their experience here and what it means to them.

Preservation Magazine “It’s Just Different Here”

“One block south and across the avenue from the Continental, in a century-old building that formerly housed Central Feed and Seed, is Güero’s Taco Bar, which owners Rob and Cathy Lippincott opened in 1995 after moving their restaurant from its original location a couple of miles away. Six months after opening, President Bill Clinton stopped in for dinner (“He cleaned his plate”), business shot up 40 percent, and it’s been busy ever since.”

Life Is A Road Trip  “Guero’s In Austin, TX”

“I’ve been to Guero’s a couple times before … I’d have to say it’s probably some of the best tex-mex I’ve ever had”

Austin Times “The Souvenir Menu: Why Guero’s is still one of Austin’s best”

“For decades now, Guero’s has been a frequent but temporary cure for home sickness.”

“So, finding a place where my first impression was “God, this tastes kinda like home!” was amazing.”

“So, whether you are missing your mom’s cooking, or your nanny’s, treat yourself to Guero’s soon. It’s considered one of Austin’s best for a good reason.”

It’s hard to sum up all that there is to see and do in Austin, but we think the recent Travel Squire article did it pretty nicely! We want to thank them for mentioning us under places to eat and drink! Click here to check out the full article.  Here is the clip on Guero’s:

Guero’s: An Austin establishment on South Congress that dishes excellent, reasonably priced Mexican food. Good for lunch or dinner, but can get crowded at peak times. Try the tacos al pastor. 1412 South Congress Ave., 512-447-7688, www.guerostacobar.com”

Thanks Travel Squire!

The press is going wild about our outdoor stage being shut down the other night. Politicians like Mayor Pro-Tem Mike Martinez who pledged to help us obtain the necessary permits have decided instead to play politics with the issue. So allow us to clear the air!

Gary over at Austin City Permits has, in my opinion, the accurate story of how all this came to be. It’s almost good enough for a made for TV movie — almost.

Here’s a little blurb from FOX this morning:

UPDATE:

Here’s Guero’s owner Rob Lippincott arguing his case before the Austin City Council: (he starts @ 10:55)
