Everyone loves our Tacos al Pastor, but did you know the history behind it? Check out this cool history article highlighting yours truly!

It is believed that Lebanese immigrants are responsible for the creation of Tacos al Pastor. They brought over their shawarma method of spit-roasting lamb from their native land in the 1930s which was in turn used as an inspiration for experts in Mexican cuisine who changed the lamb used by the Lebanese to pork for their purposes. Puebla in Mexico could be seen as the birthplace of Tacos al Pastor as this is where the Lebanese brought their cooking method first.

Here’s what we suggest:

Friday @ 6:30pm

The Music:  Los Flames are back by popular demand. Their blues, classic rock, and soul music will be a perfect start to your weekend.

The Margarita:  Silver Train. Take a ride on the Soul Train with Los Flames and on the Silver Train with our Silver Train Rita! Our Silver Train is made with Herradura Silver, Cointreau and fresh squeezed lime juice. Choo Choo!

Saturday @ 6:30pm

The Music:  Ponty Bone & The Squeeze Tones has a familiar SoCo, Austin vibe of jazz and blues.

The Margarita:  Soco Rita. Naturally, with a local vibe, we have to suggest our locally named margarita to set the mood. Our Soco Rita is made with Cazadores Roponsada, Cointreau & fresh squeezed lime juice! Feel the taste buds tingling?

Sunday @ 3:00pm

The Music:  Mitch Webb & The Swindles have that rockabilly and roots country feel to make you fall in love with Tex-Mex all over again.

The Margarita: The Heart of Texas. Deep in the Heart of Corazon Silver, Cointreau and fresh squeezed lime juice. It’s perfect for a delicious Tex-Mex experience.

Come one, come all! We hope to see you there.

The press is going wild about our outdoor stage being shut down the other night. Politicians like Mayor Pro-Tem Mike Martinez who pledged to help us obtain the necessary permits have decided instead to play politics with the issue. So allow us to clear the air!

Gary over at Austin City Permits has, in my opinion, the accurate story of how all this came to be. It’s almost good enough for a made for TV movie — almost.

Here’s a little blurb from FOX this morning:
